i hardly find any current or recent reggae bands inspiring.

parang nag simmer down na lang to party music/music to get stoned.
a lot of it kinda sound the same.
blame it on me getting too much photo assignments on the beach
and seeing some shows with reggae acts lined up one after another.

anyone care to educate me and prove me wrong?
i'd love to hear some groundbreaking/different reggae bands though.

matisyahu was the closest one that comes to mind, pero dub/rap sya diba?

Si Chong at si Chang yung mga matanda dun. Hehe. Two of the founding members of Eurasia--the first reggae band in the country.

I am into Marley family, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Jamaican ska outfits before embracing hardcore. Local acts I listen to are Peacepipe, Coffee Break Island, Badjao Roots, Tropical Depression and Enchi. Olongapo's Brown Outfit Bureau are into 311-infused type of music. Does that count? Hehe.

well unfortunately i just hate it when they always associate reggae with weed...
pwede naman death metal weed ah...
its like you go to a reggae bar (puerto for example) and when you smell the place... hell wala namang amoy na nagmamarijuana panay dyaporms at slogan na may pot leaf lang... misleading. tsk tsk
