Top 10 Reasons why Matinee Shows Rule:

1. Because 10pm is much too late for a normal start of a show that has 20 bands in the bill.
2. Coz a typical show in the Phils. has 20++ bands in the bill.
3. If you get to start by 3pm, you could assure the bands that all 20 of them could play.
4. What the fuck do you usually do at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon?
5. Its easier to drink alcoholic beverages and still have enough time to get a bit sober enough to reach home.
6. At 3pm. You are assured that no trenchcoat-wearin goth is gonna come.
7. At 3pm. Emo kids are still fixing their eyeliners and by the time they get to your show, you're probably goin home.
8. You can ask the bar for a cheaper rent or bar guarantee coz you'll be doing a show at their off-peak time.It would be an additional income for them. I remember in Cebu, they got a girly bar for a venue and at 9pm right after the show comes the girls in skimpy outfits.
9. You wont have to worry about the time you have to get up the following morning.
10. Of course it is punk!

That's an Australian perspective i guess.. I am yet to experience one of the insane Filipino bills i see all the time with 20 bands on them. Matinee shows are short and sweet, 4 bands, over by 5 or 6 pm.

the good side ng matinee shows: obligado matulog ng maaga or else wala akong mapapanood na show para sa katulad kung umaga na natutulog..

One bad thing. Hahaha. 7pm ang last trip ng Victory Liner papuntang Olongapo and 4am ang first trip. At wala pa akong nakikitang bus na diretsong Olongapo maliban sa VL, Saulug counts pero hindi ko pa alam ang oras ng last trip nila. Gotta check 'em out someday.

Bakit nga di natin ibalik sa dating oras ang simula ng mga shows?

Noong early at mid-90's, sa pagkakatanda ko, may sikat pa ng araw, nagsisimula na ang mga UG concerts, p'wera lang yung sa mga club or bar, tulad halimbawa ng club dredd at mayrics. Tignan nyo yung oras sa mga naitatabi nyong mga lumang posters at tickets or punta kayo sa shop ni fishbone, makikita nyo kung gaano talaga kaaga ang mga concerts noon.

Parang nagsimula lang yata magstart ng late ang shows noong halos sa mga club or bar na ang venue ng mga gigs.

Mas malaki talaga ang advantage kung maaga talaga nagsisimula ang mga shows at sa tingin ko, may mga bar or club namang pumapayag sa ganitong oras.

Kaya kung ako ang tatanungin, mas favorable sa akin ang TANGHALING TAPAT... HEHEHEHEHEHEHE

maganda nga to! unlike yung mga usual na pa gig na 9pm and 10pm kahit pa 10bands lang yan madaling araw din matatapos yun. tapos kakaunti lang yung matutugtog na pondo. maganda pa nito bands and scenesters have more time hanging out after the shows. cheers!!

ganito dati ang time ng mga gig, maaga lagi, minsan nga nakatirik pa si dakilang araw naglaganap na mga punx sa kalsada eh! tapos 12 tapos na, kahit malayo pa venue nun nararating at nakakapag simula ng maaga eh! ewan ko ba kung bakit ngaun hindi na madalas mangyari yung ganun, meron ngang gig na maaga, inaabot pa den ng gabi bago magsimula, malalaman natin yan kung saan tlga problema eh, cguro alam na natin yan sa ngaun... madami man o onte lng line-up kung makakapag simula ng on time base dun sa sked eh magiging hassle free eh! tapos yung walang singitan sa line-up, para mas masaya!

isa pa, gawin man natin na libre ang entrance ng gig, nagkakaroon pa den ng problema eh, yung iba hindi ko den maintindihan minsan eh, kapag libre AYAW pumasok at nagtatatambay sa labas, kpg may entrance nmn, NAGPUPUMILIT pumasok nmn. hehehehe! nakakatuwa na nakakaasar minsan eh! alam nting lahat yan!
