i am totally looking forward to seeing the following:
I AM DAVID SPARKLE!!! (fantastic instrumental post rock from SG, i think they opened for mono and explosions. EPIC!)
EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE!!! (trip hop from indonesia. for portishead fans. sana sumama si nazier, lol.)
ARIGATO HATO!!! (our very own. nobody sounds like them. i love this band, and i cant get enough of them. cat's voice is funtastic. indie pop? twee? nursery songs/rhymes for grownups? freak-folk? just go see them!)
Q(ku:) (after miami played here, japanese folk/electronica has got my attention.this duo makes me think happy cartooney thoughts. hahah.)

pero the bands i mentioned at the beginning of the post are the ones i would not miss.
it might turn out that ill be going to all these.

coming from EDSA: go below the santolan flyover and make a right at santolan road..follow santolan road until you hit the katipunan extension stoplight, then make a left.after passing shell, UCPB, and blueridge A gate to your right, you will see route 196 on the same side..

hahahaha!aku din eh mamaya lang pwede!!!sama ka na lang dahil wala din ata ko kasama!

i HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out the shows sa fest na 'to.
ang gagaling ng mga bands esp. Free Love from Malaysia, The Sinister Left from HK, at syempre EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE - pang sexytime eh, aawwwww! mixed emotions
spare some dough for their brightly colored merch cat
mukhang masaya yung saturday, kasama UP DHARMA DOWN Basketball

nga pala, kung sino libre senyo baka sunday, samahan nyong mamasyal around metro manila yung mga members nung E.L.I., yung drummer daw gustong pumunta sa mga strip clubs lol!

from cubao lrt2 station:

sakay kayo ng jeep na papuntang marikina tapos baba kayo sa may katipunan (yung may flyover ang marker or yung lrt2 station), tapos nun lakad kayo paputang kabilang daan tapos magtanung-tanung kung pano sumakay ng jeep paputang UP (nasa ilalim lang ito ng flyover), pag nakita nio na yung sakayan sabihan nio na lang yung driver na sa may mag:net kayo magpababa(kaso nasa kabilang side pa ito so pagkababa nio ng jeep eh tawid kayo sa kabila). note: dapat hindi kayo lalagpas ng miriam college kasi malayo na yun sa mag:net.

naalala ko na sa may malapit sa sakayan ng jeep to UP eh may mini-stop, tapos may mga tricycle dun na naka parada... sabihan nio na lang si manong driver na sa mag:net kayo pababa, i think mas madali to pag nagkaton pero di ko kasi sure.


di ko lam kung pupunta ako sa gig kasi nasabi k ona kay misis na di ako pupunta.. bahal na lang si batman mamaya hehehe.



P.S. bakit hindi nakasali ang legarda sa kahit saan leg nitong a*fest?!

missed day one.

here's the lowdown for those who missed it:

the saguijo show was fantastic. magnet was as well.
ELI was totally mesmerizing. didn't disappoint especially with an almost lights out set in saguijo.

Q was so fun it was ridiculous. i am totally loving crazy okinawa freakfolk. the karaoke and the ukeleles!

DEEPSET played a jawdropping set on both nights. everyone was hypnotized. think mono and caspian! sirensounds at its finest.

I AM DAVID SPARKLE was just a massive wall of sound pummeling at you and lulling you to a serene state at the same time. mogwai meets explosions in the sky with a hint of good old neurosis. by the size of their pedalboards alone you knew it would be epic. my ears are seriously ringing. they are just so fucking good. they will be playing SXSW in texas by the end of the month! go kitty wu records!

all the other bands were fantastic as well.
big hats off to the organizers for putting up a massive 4 day show of almost all foreign bands.
great indierock from the region in a festival without being "big" festival.
5 foreign bands each night for only 160 and tons of merch.
it was great seeing folks from the HC/punk scene supporting the shows.
hopefully next year will be better.

Q from japan was totally punk rock.

they played folk/nursery rhymes for adults. lol.
the duo used to be a sicence teacher and the other one a music teacher.

on their day off they went to smokey mountain and tondo, performed in the streets to the delight of the streetkids.

when was the last time a band did that?

i have so much respect for goro and piapi.

seeing the pictures again, wow! naalala ko tuloy kung gano kalupit yung I am David Sparkle....
and kung gaano nakakainis na of all the bands na di ko maaabutan eh yung ELI pa. BUSET! Rolling Eyes
