This pisses me off. just saw the news earlier. wala na ako masabi kundi magmura. Tangina naman!

{Freedom of Information bill junked earlier today. Sabi nila kulang ng House makers, because out of the 268-seat chamber, it needed 138 lawmakers to form a quorum that would have ratified the bill. ONLY 128 were there a t the house earlier. Nasan na ang mga ibang putanginang to, sobrang busy kakalustay sa taxpayer money ng bayan?}

-Information and knowledge, honesty, and transparency are vital for righteous democratic good governance. The people must know what their governors are doing, why and how (including how much they are spending) for government programs, projects and activities.

The bill gives the public access to official records and documents of the government.
Depriving the people of this information and knowledge makes righteous, democratic good governance impossible.

It defines “information” as “any knowledge, record, document, paper, report, letters, contract, minutes and transcripts of official meetings, maps, books, photographs, data, research material, film, sound and video recordings, magnetic or other tapes, electronic data, computer stored data, or any other similar data or material recorded, stored or archived in whatever form or format, which are made, received or kept in or under the control and custody of a government agency pursuant to law, executive order, rules and regulations, ordinance or in connection with the performance or transaction of official business by any government agency.”

If the most ardent supporters of the FOI bill are really determined and passionate about passing the bill into a law... they can persevere some more... and try it all over again in the next congress.


Naawa lang ako sa 14th House of Representatives. What a way to end their term. I feel sorry for Speaker Nograles for missing what could have been a good legacy that could have erased the short comings he had. Instead, he will be leaving the speakership while being remembered as the Speaker who failed the FOI bill. And the closing of the 14th congress will be remembered for the majority of its members not even having the balls to make a stand on the issue.


The names of those congressmen should be remembered. They should be remembered with shame.
