Ginseng Luzon 1) a three-piece rock unit whose odd sounding (and poorly played) ditties are designed to violate the finer musical sensibilities and prejudices of the casual listener 2) an amazing sound journey into the wonderful world of rebellious and hip powerful punk music designed to trim up to 20 lbs. off your figure in 24 hours, gregarious and full of snotty humor, hard on the outside but really snuggly soft in-wise, active ingredients include trace elements of polonium, zirconium, good old yellowcake and choice cuts from ground up political prisoners from new-rich fascist states. works better than caning, waterboarding, racking, thumbscrewing, watching tv, or reading phony rock-crit pieces from pretentious mental dolts. music to drool into a bucket to, or dinner music on the eve of a squat demolition, petty theft, breaking open the skull of a protester and various related activities 3) Generally INFLUENCED BY old-school punk hardcore, the spirit of independent music. ALSO, seething hatred and contempt, jelly treats, yoghurt, lactose intolerance, hour long jams over riffs that will never be remembered or heard from again. Powdered fruit juice. Herbal medicine, first aid wilderness technique, abortifacents. Low rent shacks with cast-off snake skins by the bed, and people who scream a lot over noisy, driving sounds.

HISTORY-PERSONNEL
The guitarist and drummer were batch mates in high school, met up again in college and formed the band in 2001 or thereabouts (around the same time martial law in the Philippines was declared). Went through some names including Ultra-force, Brown Jackhammer Hustle corps (B.J.H), Silver funk, and Ginseng, finally settling on the modified Ginseng Luzon to differentiate ourselves from some European Unionists. So much for nomenclature.

Focused on playing poorly executed tunes and continue to do so with astounding success. Fired one bassist; the second one AWOL due to a freaky combination of contempt, work and religion; and the third is doing great, maintaining the low-end bossa nova groove (the band doesn't have a tradition of running through bass players; by all indications the lineup is stable and is doing what it does best. We hope).
We continue to play here and there, to friends, strangers, fellow bands, bands we don't know, bands we hate, and a thousand waiters/janitors whose names and lives we will never know of.

Now to gratify our all consuming lust for fame and attention: Joel, Joe and Peter play drums, bass and guitars (non-respectively), all three sing at some point during sets. One of them works for a bank, another for a publicly elected official, and the guitarist,well... a damn disappointment.

joe here from ginseng, nice to know some people other than our girlfriends like the tunes... like joel said gawa kami ng bagong batch ng cd's for your listening enjoyment. magdadala talaga kami sa oct 24th sa san pablo, baka makatulong sa pamasahe (tumatanggap kaya ng CD ang JAM liner?in kind nalang sana). we're also jamming on new material for a full length cd. psychotic music, in a free-jazz/LA punk/thrash/ACDC kind of way (well joel and/ peter might disagree w/my description)...nasa gitna ako ng pag so-solder ng batch ng bagong XLR cables, paglagare, etc etc; we will record ourselves, for better or for worse.
