*At some point, we will have to take a photo of everyone present with our 350 banner displayed front and center. This part is very important because we are required to e-mail this to the 350 convenors. 350 needs a photo of every registered climate action "to be able to deliver the strongest possible message to the media, and to the world's decision-makers as they prepare for the UN climate negotiations in Copenhagen " in December (from 350.org).

As much as we want to allocate time for viewing the exhibit, our very tight schedule does not permit it. Nevertheless, we encourage everyone to view the exhibit at any point.

Please come early for the bands and the talks/ teach-ins. Likewise, please be reminded that the QC Memorial Circle is a no smoking, no drinking zone. Those with private vehicles may take the Commonwealth entrance. The park collects a P15.00 fee. The money goes to the maintenance people and the park itself. Otherwise, entrance is free as it is a public park.

  * who sent their statement of support (ecosystems work for essential benefits, an environmental NGO in iligan city)

  * who wrote about our initiative without our asking them to (claudia of 350.org and chuck of greenpeace)
  * who were not able to join us because of the bad weather but have been supporting us (jay of hopskatch, juan maralita, mrs. orbeta, murin of kaisahan, likha diwa, roy of partido kalikasan, my grad school classmates and many others)
  * who set aside their biases and vices on that day out of respect for an ecological campaign
  * who did not put malice in or see our policy of no smoking, no drinking, and zero waste along ideological (straightedge) lines and as a curtailment of freedomS
  
  

on the latter and on a personal note, i would like to thank non-collective who i thought could be averse to the policy, to the framework of our campaign, but ended up helping us the most. i salute you!

we apologize about the lcd projector, which jay humbly admits was his fault. he was supposed to get it before office hours ended, but we were all panicking about the bass amp that he forgot about the lcd. nevertheless, i do not understand why ___ would not let us borrow it when i ran to get it. the office people were still there after all, drinking in fact, and that was the first time that jay was late to pick it up so i do not understand why **** accused jay of being abusive.

in any case, i very much regret not starting on time, especially because we had a curfew and i did not want to give the circle any reason to not let us host an event again there. i was itching, in fact, to be right on schedule, but we could not because our equipment was stuck in terrible traffic. apologies have been made and accepted, and i only have thanks to say to those who helped us out, so we're all good.

despite our shortcomings, we would like to stress that we, the organizers, and our collaborators had an honest attempt to make the content diverse and to carve a space for dialogue among diverse beliefs within and outside the hardcore community. in fact, when this initiative was conceived and the plan to hold a climate action festival was thought up OVER THE SUMMER, it was designed as an inclusive, positive activity that involves both the hardcore community (which we identify with and have ties to) and the people outside the scene.

as for our climate action festival on october 24, the international day of climate action, we are still eyeing the circle though we will have to choose a different venue (within the circle) because we're expecting more people to come. i personally like the circle because it is an iconic spot. it is one of the last open public parks in metro manila that is close to "nature". it is symbolic of our desire to keep it entrance-fee-free, and to have more places where people can congregate outside the malls that have become the contemporary plaza of the urban filipino.

i am very happy to know that people enjoyed that night, that they learned new things, that they were exposed to a different perspective, to different countercultures. for some, it was one of their best experiences. i hope that this inspired everyone, especially those not familiar with the d.i.y. ethic, that activities like this can thrive without corporate, business, and even formal organizational sponsorship, and that the success and the authenticity of a grassroots initiative rest in the people themselves - in the people who genuinely believe in the cause.

and because two collaborators reminded me of this last night, my final thank you goes out to that person who effectively told us, who made us feel that we could not pull this off. as far as i am concerned, this is d.i.y. at its best - the number of people who pitched in (the diversity of their background [especially their distance from the punk culture]), who labored out of love and in solidarity with our advocacy is testament to this.
