Insurgent Kid - Paranoia (Wasted Sounds)
Like a good knife; from the first couple of notes, you can see it’s stainless, it’s perfectly balanced, and it cuts effortlessly. Umea Sweden’s Insurgent Kid have some members of the dearly missed DS-13, play like they’re fueled by early Black Flag’s actual sweat, and make you realize: fuck, I know what’s coming—short, anxious, sharp lunges. But in the right hands it’s, once again, samurai-level, tension-filled, slashing hardcore and I’m a sucker for it. Thanks. –Todd Taylor (Wasted Sounds)

Common Enemy is a four piece band straight out of Reading, PA, USA. They're bringing back the aggressive and in your face hardcore of the early 80's. Blasting you with songs about, skating, video games, horror movies, and life in general.

Re: Major Malfunction - Distro List (February 2010)
New stuff:
Fall Of Efrafa - Inlé (Halo of Flies Records)
The long awaited final chapter of the "The Warren of Snares" trilogy, Fall Of Efrafa conclude their mythological tale of an uprising against an oppressive regime, based upon an interpretation of the classic novel "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. Inlé is crushing yet beautiful; ambient and atmospheric heavy post hardcore, bringing to mind the likes of Neurosis, Buried Inside, Envy, Earth and Godspeed You Black Emperor.
In Defence - S/T (Crapoulet Records, Access Denied, Obsolete Man, Spastic Fantastic)
In Defence is a thrashcore (with a youth crew feel) band from St. Paul, MN. This CD contains 29 relentless songs about bike thieves, racism, self esteem, DIY, friendship, veronica mars, tacos, and star wars (yeah!). Fans of Municipal Waste, WHN?, and Youth of Today take note.

Re: Major Malfunction - Distro List (February 2010)
New Stuff:
All Hell Breaks Loose - S/T

The second record from Miami FL’s rising sons of punishing hardcore. Super raw, heavy, & fast paced without any of the pretentious B.S. infiltrating a once great scene. This CD will blow you away quicker than Hurricane Andrew. AHBL Features current members of Until The End & Target Nevada. If you want quality heavy music than look no further. For fans of: Until The End, Terror, Death Threat, Figure Four, & Buried Alive.
Anchor - Captivity Songs

This is the second release by Refoundation Records and it's a great deal: Anchor's debut MCD is finally available for worldwide orders and it will be soon available also at your local distro. Captivity Songs features 5 incredible and passionate songs between Trial / Strife / Reaching Forward and comes with an enhanced artwork. As always 1 euro off the price will be donated to those groups who fight for earth, human and animal liberation. Sprung from, and deeply engaged in the independent music community as well as the anarchist and animal liberation-movement of Gothenburg, here's Sweden's new hope; ANCHOR! Rising from the ruins of sadly missed bands such as DAMAGE CONTROL and SET MY PATH. Formed, not only to entertain but also to provoke critical thought and inspire action ANCHOR threw themselves into the fray on a 16 day parade through northern europe with Germany's finest, RITUAL only two months after the bands birth. The music we make can be seen as a natural extension of how all of us are activists in one sense or the other. Be it through playing music, doing fanzines, promoting shows or getting active in local political groups. ANCHOR's first release, a mcd/7" entitled "Captivity songs" manifests a band with an alarming need, to not only be creative and scream and shout but more importantly also to reach out and communicate ideas and feelings in an adequate way. We feel that very few bands care to do this. All of this together makes ANCHOR a band to be reckoned with for a long time in the future. Reinstate your hearts!
Another Breath - Mill City

Mill City is a 15 chapter tale of a mind on the familiar quest for life's meaning. Departing on a journey with destination unknown, ANOTHER BREATH has successfully captured so much of the familiar raw emotion that comes from our personal struggle to ultimately find our own place in the world. Confusion, regret, anger, fear, loneliness, self doubt - it's all here, compiled in a sort of chronological order that seems so familiar, finally putting the words and music to so many days, nights, weeks, and months that we've all endured. Serving as the next step in a natural progression from the band's Not Now, Not Ever EP (Rivalry Records, June 2004), this album is a step up in every way. With matured song writing, driving intensity, and focused lyrical content, ANOTHER BREATH has transcended the hardcore norm, pulling influence from good 'ol fashion punk rock, rock ‘n’ roll, and contemporary hardcore, creating an album that stands apart from the pack. With musical and vocal remnants of past and present peers AMERICAN NIGHTMARE, SUICIDE FILE, and MODERN LIFE IS WAR, the band has truly built upon the inspirations of the past and written their own chapter for inspiration in the future.
Broken Distance - Hourglass

From the south of Portugal, born from the ashes of youth crew heroes Pointing Finger, Broken Distance quickly established a name for themselves with the release of their demo in late 2006. Combine powerful, melodic riffs with passionate, heartfelt lyrics and an energetic presence on stage and you'll find Broken Distance. "Hourglass" is their first EP, destined to make them a name to be remembered.
Comin' Correct / Where Fear And Weapons Meet - Split

Rick Ta Life and crew are back with two originals and a live a version of Sham 69's "If The Kids Are United"...while Where Fear And Weapons Meet contribute three songs (one being a cover of Unity's "Straight On View").
Dance Floor Justice - Breaking the Silence

he Members of Dance Floor Justice read like a who's-who of the South Florida hardcore scene over the last few years, with members doing time in Until the End, Where Fear and Weapons Meet, and All Hell Breaks Loose, and will have no problem fitting in alongside today's biggest acts such as Comeback Kid, Bane and Terror.
Fumbles In Life - Everyday You Can Improve

Six powerful and positive hardcore songs from this Italian youthcrew powerhouse.
Internal Affairs - Deadly Visions

After releasing their stellar self-titled full length in 2005, INTERNAL AFFAIRS returns with Deadly Visions, a collection of songs that still shows that they have what it takes to continue to be at the top of the best bands currently residing in Southern California.
The Kind That Kills - S/T

The Kind That Kills is a hardcore quintet hailing from Stockholm, Sweden who quickly appeared on the European hardcore map through powerful music and sincere lyrics coupled with relentless touring across the continent. Their style of contemporary hardcore with plenty of melodies brings to mind bands like Betrayed, Champion and Count Me Out.
V/A - Harder They Fall: Tribute To Integrity

Escapist Records presents a tribute to Integrity, one of the most controversial and influential bands of the '90s with twenty-one cover tracks total, including contributions from Force Of Change, Rise And Fall, Know The Score, Eye Of Judgment, Die Young, Alcatraz, Dance Floor Justice, These Days, The Phantom Pains and many more!

Fear The Elements (4-Way Split)
End Is Forever/John Doe/Loyal To The Grave/Failure

This 4 way split starts off with END IS FOREVER from Germany contributing 5 tracks. Featuring female vocals that will surely give Walls of Jericho, Gather, & Bloodlined Caligraphy a run for their money. Slayer riffs and a tinge of melodic riffs throughout, these guys and girls know their metal mixed with some hardcore breakdowns. The next 6 tracks are by Polish band JOHN DOE. You can expect blazing blast beats, lots of double bass, all accompanied by tortured screams over some serious metal riffs reminiscent of North Carolina bands Undying & Prayer For Cleansing. Up next are my favorites, LOYAL TO GRAVE from Japan who conjure up 3 more of their Syracuse influenced hardcore. Man I love this band! I can't get enough. The last 5 tracks come from Philippines FAILURE who have a real screamy hardcore punk approach. I'm not even sure who to compare them to but if you're looking for a few new bands to check out from other parts of the globe this is damn sure a good start!

Fist In The Air Records
www.myspace.com/fistintheairrecords
DEPARTURES/ ATLANTIC HEARTS split CD
www.myspace.com/departuresmusic
www.myspace.com/atlantichearts
Fist In The Air is putting out some quality releases by excellent up-and-coming UK bands right now (see Take Courage, Santa Karla etc.), and this split adds to that run, delivering four songs each by two new(ish) bands – one, Atlantic Hearts, hailing from London, and the other, Departures, coming from North of the border. It’s the latter band who get this split underway, with a sound that’s loaded with anger but also a fair degree of tunefulness and expansiveness, with ‘Disappointment’ and ‘The View From Above’ displaying a particular melodic edge and offering driving riffs rather than thrashing brute force. Not unlike The Legacy or Verse, it’s intelligent, powerful stuff. Atlantic Hearts are equally powerful, albeit in a far blunter, rip-yer-face-off-and-stamp-on-it kind of way. Their half of the split is characterized by hate-filled lyrics delivering in a super-vitriolic style, while musically they’re not a million miles away from early Your Demise or Outbreak. Hurtling by in a cacophony of misanthropic anger, their four tracks are short, sharp and impressively straight to the nasty point. Two noticeably different takes on the hardcore genre then, from two new bands who are both impressive in their own distinctive way, and both well worth checking out.

Re: Major Malfunction - Distro List (February 2010)
New:
GORILLA BISCUITS s/t (CD)

The first 7" from what has been argued to be the greatest hardcore band of all time. If you don't have this, what are you waiting for?
IGNITE Call On My Brothers (CD)

After nearly two years of being out of press, Revelation Records has re-released Ignite's debut full-length cd, Call On My Brothers. Originally put out by Conversion Records, the amazing remastered 17 song classic is now finally be available, giving new fans the opportunity to hear why Ignite has achieved such a large worldwide following while allowing old fans to hear the album as it was intended to be.
JUDGE What it Meant: The Complete Discography (CD)

Judge's "What it Meant: The Complete Discography" combines the "New York Crew" 7", the "Bringin' It Down" LP, the "Storm" 7", the "Chung King Can Suck It" LP and previously unreleased demo tracks. Includes an all new layout with liner notes by Judge guitarist Porcell and never-before-seen live and behind the scenes photos. A fitting testament to this classic New York hardcore band.
LIVING HELL The Lost And The Damned (CD)

Boasting a rich musical history, New England adds to its ever-flourishing hardcore community with Living Hell's debut full length, "The Lost And The Damned." This Connecticut/Boston hybrid's take on hardcore is one that reflects the hardened, metal tinged sound of bands like Judge, Ringworm, and Cro-Mags. Singer Craig Mack's intent was to make "The Lost And The Damned" an album that blends the heavier, metal infused side of hardcore with a faster New York influence.
MOUTHPIECE Can't Kill What's Inside: The Complete Discography (CD)

While many of the early eighties pioneers of hardcore had moved along, the scene went through something of a renaissance with a new crop of energetic kids who had seized the power of the music and molded it into something that was relevant to the style of their times. Fast forward to 2008 and the inspiration for Mouthpiece's formation comes full circle with the release of "Can't Kill What's Inside: The Complete Discography" on Revelation Records. The CD contains three additional previously unreleased live tracks not available on the vinyl version and an enhanced portion which includes a 13 song live set recorded live at CBGBs as well as a video for the song "Cinder."
SICK OF IT ALL s/t (CD)

The classic S/T release by the Alley Way Crew. Re-mastered to get the most out of an '87 recording.
THE_NETWORK Bishop Kent Manning (CD + Poster)

Taking lessons from the school of Coalesce and Bloodlet, The Network finally captured their full essence at God City Studio with engineer/producer Kurt Ballou. The album title and theme is based on a short story by a member of the band about greed, regret, life, blind faith, death and consequence. For fans of Converge, Coalesce, Trap Them and Graf Orlock.

* The_Network will be touring SE Asia in December, and will be playing two shows here in the Philippines.
YOUTH OF TODAY We're Not In This Alone (CD)

The songs on "We're Not In This Alone" are born from the band's dedication to straight edge, positive living and the strength of the both the individual and of a generation. Full of energy and inspiration this record was an essential step in the development of hardcore.

STRENGTH FOR A REASON "Blood, Faith, Loyalty"

Strength For A Reason has been putting out 'core since 1987! Their new 11 song album continues with their hard hitting, in-your-face style that reminds you of old NYHC with great lyrics and vocals.
